From a monthly figure to this moment
Work mode divides your monthly amount by the workdays you enter, then by the seconds inside your start and end hours after lunch. Demo mode divides by the number of days in the current month and counts all 24 hours.
Lunch and the clock
In Work mode the lunch pause begins at 12:00 and lasts for the duration you set. Before the workday starts, today’s figure is zero. After the end hour, it stays at that day’s amount. The display refreshes every 0.1 seconds from the clock.

Questions
Does backgrounding the app make the total drift?
No. Each refresh uses the current time and your settings. It does not add up the seconds the app spent in the background.
